The World Economic Forum in Davos, lead by Professor Schwab, states that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is about more than just technology-driven change; it is an opportunity to help everyone, including leaders, policy-makers and people from all income groups and nations, to harness converging technologies in order to create an inclusive, human-centered future. Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and machine learning taking over many of our human work as well as provide us with a safer environment and enable us to explore our talents for the greater good.
However, this comes with a big cost to our mental & physical well-being. We are now 24/7 connected to every part of the globe, can be reached via technology at anytime and anywhere, as long as we have power and reception, we are getting bombarded with tailored advertising thanks to artificial intelligence, and instead of working less – we are working more. Our brain is overloaded with information and we feel that time is running away from us. Did our modern world create a monster?
No, it didn’t! It is us who needs to adapt to the new world and learn how to control modern technology so that it is not dominating our lives. After all we are human beings and not machines. We do expire and break down. We also need a long recovery time to be fully operational. We are not created for multitasking and just because we can do it, it doesn’t mean we have to multitask non-stop.
Rethink, Refocus, Rejoice! Unplug yourself from the pressure and drama of life and focus on yourself. Nourish your body with organic healthy food, eat less, move more, sleep long, meditate, cut out noise, connect with nature, and learn how to be technology free.
Slow down time! No need to rush all the time. Don’t let people run your life by forcing their time schedule onto you. Learn to say NO but provide an alternative date/time which suits both parties. Remember a mind full is not mindfulness.
It’s OK not to do anything! What is important is the outcome of your work. Work on your projects when you are at your best, that way you will produce a superior outcome without stress. No need to force yourself to do something when you are tired or sick.
LOL – Yes! Laugh out loud and be happy. At times life can be very hard and difficult, specially in times of uncertainty. We worry daily about something, which in return makes us ill. Don’t allow fear, sadness, worry, anger, frustration or any other strong negative emotion dictate your life. Instead LOL, watch something which makes you happy, be silly, try something new out, and have fun. Trust me it will make all those hard times a little bit more bearable and some of them will disappear.
